In the article "All You Need to Know about Solar-Powered Cars" Vyas (2019) shared insights about the development of solar cars. The article discussed the features of Sion, an electric vehicle that charges itself utilizing sun-powered energy (Vyas, 2019). The solar panel utilizes photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity (Vyas, 2019). The author further elaborated that the "photons of sunlight strike the photovoltaic cells and excite the electrons. This allows an electron flow that creates an electric current in the process. This electrical current is then used as a “fuel” to run the vehicle" (Vyas, 2019, para. 8). 

During the manufacturing of Sion, it uses one hundred percent renewable energy. Furthermore, along with SonoMotor's unique maintenance system, it keeps the repair costs to the minimum (SonoMotors, n.d). With these unique features, Sion stands out amongst competitors in terms of the environmental benefits concerning air quality and the cost efficiency it provides.

Sion outperforms its competitors in terms of air quality benefits. SonoMotors collaborated with National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) as both companies share the same vision in building resource-conserving mobility for a more sustainable future (SonoMotors, n.d). They can offset all unnecessary carbon produced throughout the manufacturing process (SonoMotors, n.d). The manufacturing of Sion is held in Trollhättan by NEVS and "it will be carried out using one hundred percent renewable energy" (SonoMotors, n.d, para. 1).

On the other hand, according to the article "Advantages & Disadvantages of Solar Energy (2020)" Vourvoulias (2020) stated that sun-based energy can be related to contamination. Transportation and establishment of solar systems have been related to the emission of ozone harming substances. Additionally, some harmful materials and unsafe products are utilized during the manufacturing process of solar photovoltaic systems, which can affect the environment indirectly (Vourvoulias, 2020). According to statistics on Lightyear's website (2019, November 16), being one of Sion's competitors, it still emits carbon despite being a solar-powered electric vehicle. As a result, being able to use one hundred percent renewable energy is unique to Sion, propelling them to shine above their competitors. 

Sion also brings forth cost benefits. SonoMotors offers a rent alternative for the battery. Batteries represent a significant part of the expense of an electric vehicle, so the battery rent would help decrease the direct front expense of the vehicle (Casey, 2018). Besides, SonoMotors has come up with an interesting repair plan to keep the costs to a minimum. An electric vehicle power train is relatively straightforward as compared to conventional motors, and SonoMotors has exploited that advantage to design a vehicle that can be fixed by novices (Casey, 2018).

Furthermore, SonoMotors allow their clients to order most spare parts online and provide a step-by-step tutorial guide (Casey, 2018). SonoMotors offer instructions in the form of recordings and texts. If one does not feel like repairing the Sion themselves, they can bring it to a nearby auto shop. As SonoMotors unveil the complete workshop manual, every mechanic will be able to fix the Sion effortlessly (Casey, 2018). In comparison to its competitors, Sion has the upper edge in terms of having low maintenance cost which is only possible due to its unique business model.

According to SonoMotor's website (n.d), one negative feature of Sion is that the battery capacity is sufficient for a range of 255km whereas that of Lightyear has a range of 725km. This shows that Sion lacks the competitive edge in terms of its battery capacity and being able to last longer on the road. In my opinion, one way to overcome this challenge is to have multiple batteries store in Sion, and when in need, the user can switch between batteries, enabling Sion to level with their competitors in terms of lasting longer on roads.

In conclusion, Sion is beneficial to the environment in terms of maintaining the air quality at a healthy range, guarantees cost-efficiency in terms of non-existence fuel costs, and low maintenance fees. These features make Sion prominent to their competitors.
