Critical Reflection
Through the course of this module, I believe I have learned a lot more about effective communications in terms of verbal and written means. This can only happen with the constructive feedback I received from Professor Brad and my fellow classmates as it enables me to identify and rectify my mistakes in my assignments.
At the start of this module, I set goals for myself to be a better
communicator in terms of expressing myself more efficiently and overcoming my
fear of public speaking. In class, we were actively given the opportunities to
speak and work in different groups. I feel that this is an efficient way of
teaching as it helps a lot of us to slowly overcome the barrier of public
speaking which most of us are having difficulties with. Apart from that, having
to work in different groups shaped me to become a better team player as I can
communicate with different people all the time.
For our first assignment, we were given the task to do up a technical report
on any telematics related products. I believe all of us do not have any
experience in terms of writing such reports. Despite us messing up the first
draft badly, I truly appreciate and is thankful for the fact that we were being
guided meticulously and patiently by Professor Brad throughout the course of it
and improving the quality of our work together as a class by giving each other
constructive feedbacks. After completing this assignment, I feel that I have a
better idea of how to write a decent technical report and is able to cite
sources and paraphrase effectively.
Moving on to the second assignment, we were split into groups for the design
report. In most cases, every Sunday night, we will have group meetings through
discord as we brainstorm and work together to meet the report's requirement. I
am thankful for everyone in team Ascend for being supportive throughout the
course of this assignment. At last, we have our presentation in front of the
class. I am glad that everyone managed to overcome the adversity of presenting
themselves with a mask on. Even though there is no presentation showcase this
year due to COVID-19, I believe I have overcome my fear of public speaking. I
am able to present myself with confidence and is able to translate my thoughts
into words effectively during the presentation.
Overall, I feel that Professor Brad's method of teaching resonates well with
the modern society as it is very relevant for students going to the workforce
in the near future. This module has thus given me a fruitful experience which I
will carry it with me into my future endeavours. Once again, thank you
Professor Brad for having me along in this learning journey.
